Plan the route, not a guaranteed arrival time

The motorway journey is commonly planned as roughly 240 kilometres, but traffic leaving Casablanca, toll queues, weather, rest stops and the final Marrakech address can materially change the duration. Build margin around a flight, appointment or accommodation check-in.

• Place luggage so it cannot move under braking
• Confirm tyres and warning lights before entering the motorway
• Set navigation while parked
• Carry a practical payment method for tolls

Tolls and Jawaz

Morocco’s motorway operator publishes current tariffs and accepted payment methods. If the rental includes a Jawaz pass, confirm how its balance and charges are handled. Do not enter a dedicated Jawaz lane unless the vehicle has a working, funded pass.

• Check the current tariff instead of relying on an old blog price
• Keep the entry ticket safely where the route uses a ticket system
• Follow lane signs and staff instructions
• Review any Jawaz charge with the rental agreement

Arrival in Marrakech

Choose the final parking or handover point before reaching dense city traffic. Medina access, hotel access and parking rules vary by street. Ask the accommodation where cars can legally stop and avoid following navigation into a lane that is visibly unsuitable.

Choose the vehicle around the trip

A compact car is often easier for city parking; a crossover can add luggage flexibility. Passenger count, luggage, automatic or manual preference and any onward mountain travel matter more than choosing by appearance alone.
