Rental Documents Checklist
Prepare driver, identity, booking and payment documents without relying on outdated claims.
The safest rule
Ask the rental company to confirm your exact requirements before travel. Licence recognition, minimum experience, additional-driver rules and payment conditions can depend on the issuing country and rental agreement. Do not rely on a universal claim that every visitor either always needs or never needs an International Driving Permit.
Primary driver checklist
- Original valid driving licence
- Passport or identity document accepted for the handover
- Booking reference and confirmation email
- Reachable phone number
- Payment or deposit method agreed in writing
- International Driving Permit when required for your licence or agreement
Additional drivers
Every authorised driver should be declared before driving and should present the required documents. A companion is not automatically insured or authorised simply because they meet the age requirement.
Check names and validity
Names should match across the booking and documents. Check expiry dates before departure and ask about a recent licence, temporary paper licence, non-Latin script, damaged document or licence that does not show the original issue date.
Data protection
The RSDRIVE website collects booking contact and itinerary data but does not currently ask for online document uploads or store complete payment-card numbers. Original documents may be checked during the handover under the confirmed rental process.
